Forged iron: old craft, modern technique
Ateliers Faíscas Voadoras (Flying Sparks) is a metalwork and blacksmith business founded in 2023 by André Peisker and André Ribeiro in Colos, Odemira.
The workshop
Their goal is to preserve traditional metalwork and its methods, combining them with modern technology. Every piece starts from an original design, tailored to the task and to the customer.
Alongside made-to-measure metalwork, they create sculptural work, exploring various techniques and metals: forged manta rays and roses, hand-hammered reliefs and handmade knives.
Part of the cooperative
Ateliers Faíscas Voadoras has been part of Cooperativa Integral da Terra since September 2023. The workshop, shared with other projects under one roof, is a place of collaboration and mutual support.
They also hope to open the forge to courses in traditional metalwork techniques, so that more people can learn to make their own tools and the blacksmith’s craft is passed on to the next generation.
What they make
- Iron gates and doors
- Railings, handrails and balconies
- Staircases, walkways and whole interiors
- Porches, pergolas and fences
- Sculpture and decorative metalwork
- Hand-forged knives and tools
From design to installation, every piece is made to measure.
